Next Court
Before your first session

Set up. Play. Record. Then adjust.

Next Court is for casual doubles with rotating partners: 4–24 listed players, 1–5 courts and up to 300 completed rounds. At least four players must be present.

  1. Try fictional players first. Open the tool. The late-arrival example replaces the current local session only after confirmation. Save a backup first if you have real progress.
  2. Create your own session. In the player panel, open “Start a different session”, paste one name per line and choose the court count. Give people distinct names, such as Alex A and Alex B. Use nicknames rather than full personal details.
  3. Check the preview, then play it. Keep attendance and court count unchanged during play. The tool does not lock an in-progress round.
  4. After everyone finishes, record the round. Click “Record this round as played”. This records the currently displayed preview and produces the next one. There is no score entry. If you record twice by mistake, use “Undo last played round”.
  5. Now update attendance. Uncheck a departing player or add an arrival. Earlier completed rounds stay unchanged. If someone joins during play, wait until after recording that round to add them.
  6. Before you finish, save a backup. Keep the downloaded JSON file. Restore it to resume on another browser/device; nothing syncs automatically.

What the organizer balances

Players who were present but received fewer playing opportunities have priority. The tool then searches for fewer repeat partners and opponents. Absent players do not build up missed-turn priority. This is not a guaranteed full round robin, a skill-matching system or an official tournament draw.

Supported use and limits

Prepared for desktop Chrome and Edge on Windows. Narrow-width layouts are checked on desktop; actual mobile devices and sunlight/outdoor use have not been tested. Keep an alternative way to run your session if this tool does not fit your setting. Internet is needed to open the hosted site; do not rely on reopening it offline.

Only one current session is saved per browser origin. Use one tab for a session: two open tabs can overwrite each other's changes. Browser storage may be cleared or blocked. A save warning means you should download a backup. If saved data cannot be read, it is preserved until you explicitly start a new session, load the example or restore a backup; “Save backup” downloads that original data for recovery.

Correcting a mistake

Undo removes only the most recently completed round and keeps current attendance/courts. Review the replacement preview. If older history is wrong, restore a backup from before the mistake or start a new session. Backups contain the names you entered; do not post them publicly.
